On October 10, 1943 the Royal Flush was the only surviver of the 100th bomb groups mission to Munster,Germany. The pilot Robert Rosenthal brought the B-17 home with two engines out, and landed in the rapidly gathering fog. On this day the 100th bomb group became known as the "Bloody 100th"

30 seconds before the bomb drop the left waist gunner on Luscious Lady shot down a German JU-88 that was attacking from 7 o'clock. 303rd bomb group B-17's on October 14, 1943, known as black thursday to the air crews of the Eighth air force.

On March 8,1944 the 352nd fighter group's first ace intercepted and shot down the group comander of III/JG 26 Klaus Mietusch. The German ace had just scored his 60th victory that day, and became Virgil Meroney's 8th victim.

On November 27,1944 The 352nd Fighter Groups Capt. Bill Whisner shot down two Bf-109's. The German pilots tried to escape by diving for the thick clouds, but did not make it. On this day Captain Whisner became a double ace.

On October 10, 1943 the 56th fighter group showed up for escort duty, and found our bombers being slaughtered by over 200 German fighters. They went right to work to end the bomber crewmans misery. Bob Johnson shot down a Me-110, and an FW-190 to become an ace!
